Description

GRICDial allows users to quickly find the site and telephone number of a nearby Internet connection, wherever they are located. The user specifies a particular country and city, and GRICDial provides the phone numbers of the local Internet Point-of-Presence (POP). Once a POP is selected, GRICDial will automatically initiate the dialing and dialogue to make the connection for the user.

"Click and Dial" Interface

With the unique "click and dial" interface, there is no need to go through any wizard or other configuration process to build individual dialup networking connection icons. Unnecessary icons from locations are not created to clutter the user's desktop. When the selected location is made, the dialing is begun immediately. No further steps are required.

Automatic Handling of all Internet Configuration Settings

GRICDial provides all Internet configuration parameters such as IP Address, DNS Address, Web Proxy, ftp Proxy and Connection Type. The user, therefore, does not need to know the specifics of using the selected POP. Simply pick the desired location and everything is handled by GRICDial.

Worldwide Phonebook of All Available Internet Connection Points

GRICDial contains a phonebook of all the GRIC POPs worldwide. Selection is easily accomplished by specifying the country, state (if U.S.), and city. To obtain all locations within a certain country, simply leave the state and city items blank.

Easy Update of New Internet Connection Points

With the GRIC network growing rapidly, new POPs are constantly being added. To get the most up-to-date list, the user simply clicks the "update" button on the menu.

Bookmarking

To save time, users can store the names and locations of POPs to which they frequently connect. Once saved, the user can initiate connection to this POP by clicking on its name in the bookmark list and the link is directly made.

Easy Access through Hotel, PBX, or Direct Dialing

GRICDial gives users the option of specifying the dialing prefix so they can connect through their hotel PBX or through direct international dialing.

Identification of Worldwide Local Support

GRICDial makes available a local support phone number for each POP listed. The user will have access to technical support locally who can help with any difficulties in accessing the Internet through the worldwide GRIC network.

Complete Customization

GRICDial can easily be customized to meet specific ISP, telco or user needs regionally or globally.

Additional Ease-of-Use Features

To make connecting to the Internet around the world as easy as connecting to the user's local Internet Service Provider, additional GRICDial features are also included such as:

• On-line help facility
• Storage of the user's login ID and password
• Reinsertion of ID and password when dialing and the memory of the last five connection numbers

Users can specify access to outside lines, user ID and password. User IDs and passwords can be automatically stored for future use.
