
The total area is 316 square Km (Malta 246, Gozo 67, Comino 2). The longest distance in Malta from the south east to the north-west, is about 27 Km, and the widest distance is 14.5 Km in an east - westerly direction. The corresponding figures for Gozo are 14 Km and 7 Km.
Malta has no mountains or rivers. A series of low hills with terraced fiels on the slopes characterize the islands.
The coastline of Malta is well indented with harbours, bays, creeks, sandy beaches and rocky coves. the length o the shoreline round Malta is 137 Km and 43 Km round Gozo.

The Capital city of Malta is Valletta. It was named after the Grand Master Jean Parisot de la Valette (the founder). Valletta is rich of history. In fact different developing has been carried out in this Capital City. Today it is used mainly for offices, although there is an amount of people living here (altough its decreasing by years)
Maltese and English are the two languages spoken in these islands. Currently there is an influence from the Italian language because Italian TV stations can be seen in the Maltese Islands.
About 98% of the Maltese people are Catholic. The other 2% are of different religions.
Although we are so small we have transport around the islands. The public Transport is mainly used in Malta after private cars. The bus terminus in Malta is in Floriana and in Gozo it is in Victoria or Rabat.
