This site provides comprehensive information on copyright under Maltese law in respect of the traditional areas, i.e. literary, musical and artistic works, in accordance with the Copyright Act 2000 (CAP. 415).

It could be of interest to writers, novelists, playwrights, computer programmers, songwriters, composers, artists, photographers, architects, craftsmen and the like.

Artists and authors focus on their creative abilities, often quite heedless of the legal aspects of their work. Consequently, many are either misinformed or unaware of the rights and protection they are granted at law. This site is meant to fill that void.

The author, Aldo Zammit Borda, is a law student and a budding artist himself. This enables him to provide a legally-accurate, straightforward overview of the subject, devoid, wherever possible, of annoying jargon.

It is important to note, however, that the site is only meant to give a broad outline, and though the greatest care has been exercised, the author cannot be held liable for any inaccuracies or errors found herein and any consequences arising therefrom. Please consult the disclaimer.
